| Abigail | Warrensburg-Latham High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2019 |

Today I get to share the lovely Ms. Abigail with you all. We had a beautiful day at Allerton for her session (doesn’t that sunshine look inviting this week!?!?) and she was so great in front of the camera, aren’t her blue eyes just stunning?!?! Her and her mom were such a pleasure to work with and I’m so glad they loved so many of her images.

One of my favorite parts about senior gal sessions is that most ladies bring their moms along for the experience (many of our senior guys do too!). It always warms my heart seeing these senior’s mommas help with this big milestone session and I remember my momma coming along for my senior experience too. I can still remember sitting down with mom for the first meeting with my senior photographer and being so excited that I was going to have him create my portraits (Childress Portrait Design was the go to place in my home town for senior portraits!).

| Garvin Family Portraits | Sarah Jane Photography | Decatur, IL |

Check out the Garvin family! I got to meet this beautiful family at our Fall Limited Edition session. One of my favorite things about our LE sessions is that they are a great way to ‘try on’ the SJP portrait experience. With no pre-session consultation and your choice of short 15 or 30 minute sessions they are a convenient option for clients with busy schedules and/or dads and kids who don’t LOVE being in front of the camera for an hour (haha any husbands out there that do?!?!).

And post-session you still get the full red-carpet treatment with your exclusive in-studio Premiere where you become the movie stars on our 106″ movie screen and we work with you to select images and create the perfect artwork for your home as well as to share with friends/family.

I have my set of annual clients who I get to see each year at these events and watching their kiddos grow over the years is seriously so rewarding but it’s so fun to meet the new faces like the Garvin’s and I swear you wouldn’t know this littlest guy didn’t know me before session. He warmed right up and was seriously working it for the camera. Even in 15 minutes I think it’s so important to let each of the kids shine with their own time in the spotlight. They are each such an important part of your family and we want to show off who they are right now so you don’t miss a moment (you’ll be shocked how much they change in just a year ahhhhh).

| Jodie | Class of 2019 Senior Portraits | Decatur IL |

I’m BACK! Sorry for the quiet month around the blog. I have a few sessions we’re keeping under wraps until Christmas cards hit mailboxes soon and I’ve been so busy OUT on sessions with these beautiful people that I haven’t had a chance to stop in here to share what we’ve been working on. But as the COLD weather moves in it’s just about time for me to hibernate and work on all these images so that means it’s time to share again, starting today with the lovely Jodie!

With a super funky fall this year Jodie’s October session was somehow almost all green (and even warm enough for us to play in the water… can you believe it and now there’s SNOW on the ground!!!). We did find one loan golden tree but had plenty of other gorgeous options including some pretty ivy and sunkissed golden field. But the real star of the show here is Jodie herself and I’m most excited about the art piece her and her momma decided to feature in their home (she was negotiating kicking out one of dad’s nature images to claim the biggest wall for herself – love it! But in the end I think they let his portrait stay and found the perfect home for her 4 image collage).

Class of 2019 we still have spring sessions open for you (or call us ASAP to get on our snow call list for truly unique senior portraits if you’re willing to brave the cold).

| The Avon Theater | Annual Staff Portrait | Decatur IL |

Does your business take annual staff photos? The practice of this has gotten less and less common in recent years but I love that Skip at the Avon still holds this tradition dear. He likes to celebrate their staff now, feature them every day on the walls of the theater AND think forward to what will be left behind if/when the theater is no longer there. This is their legacy, what could be pulled out of a storeroom 50 years from now and returned to a place of honor to pay homage to those who have graced the halls of this historic theater. I just love that mindset. That is why I do what I do. It’s about us now, to show love and support for those people that are most important to us but also to leave our legacy. This is why I love both digital and print images. Sure the digitals are here for the NOW, the sharing/showing with our friends and family from all around the world quickly and easily. But the prints…. those are for us for decades and centuries to come. Those are for the legacy boxes that end up in the hands of your grand children, or great grandchildren (I’m lucky enough to have my families legacy images).

You may be capturing these images well for your family but this is important for your businesses as well. Do your employees feel celebrated and valued (I can help you do that in a variety of ways)? Are you capturing the history/growth/legacy of your business now? Our businesses are our babies too and I’m so excited to get to celebrate this one each and every year. Keep it up Avon, you guys are doing a wonderful job.
