I’m BACK! Sorry for the quiet month around the blog. I have a few sessions we’re keeping under wraps until Christmas cards hit mailboxes soon and I’ve been so busy OUT on sessions with these beautiful people that I haven’t had a chance to stop in here to share what we’ve been working on. But as the COLD weather moves in it’s just about time for me to hibernate and work on all these images so that means it’s time to share again, starting today with the lovely Jodie!

With a super funky fall this year Jodie’s October session was somehow almost all green (and even warm enough for us to play in the water… can you believe it and now there’s SNOW on the ground!!!). We did find one loan golden tree but had plenty of other gorgeous options including some pretty ivy and sunkissed golden field. But the real star of the show here is Jodie herself and I’m most excited about the art piece her and her momma decided to feature in their home (she was negotiating kicking out one of dad’s nature images to claim the biggest wall for herself – love it! But in the end I think they let his portrait stay and found the perfect home for her 4 image collage).

Today I get to share the class of 2019 soon-to-be graduates of Warrensburg-Latham High School. I get to work with each of these students once a year to create their senior yearbook portrait. It’s really a fun day for me to work with them to get a portrait they love to commemorate their final year of high school.

Check out Will’s senior session! We’re now in the odd part of my year (ok really this is all year long) where I’m rounding out the last few orders for the past class of 2018 as they head off to college, in full on shooting mode for the current senior class of 2019 AND fielding model applications as they come in for the class of 2020… which basically just means I CONSTANTLY write the wrong year on all my checks, and school/doctor forms for the girls. I swear these people must think I’m nuts making out my checks for 8/18/20 (talk about post-dating, ya cash that thing in a couple YEARS!).

About half our senior guys each year choose our Simple senior session and one of my favorite things to show from those shorter 45 minute, single location sessions is how much we can create in that amount of time! I always work hard to select a location that will give us a lot of variety in a small area and encourage the senior to bring 3 different outfits so we can again get variety in the look of the images. But don’t worry if you (or your son) aren’t looking to spend 4 hours or multiple days on sessions. | Michael | WLHS Senior Portraits | Decatur IL |

It’s Michael’s day on the blog today! We had such a great mix at his session of the classic and the new/edgy. We kicked things off here in the studio since we had to create his yearbook headshot anyways we decided to do a few other more formal images here before we headed out.

One fun thing on Michael’s session was being spotted by a few of his friends who threw out some cat calls as we were shooting. Our girls kick up a ruckus and even brides and grooms elicit passing honks and hollers of congrats but it’s kind of the most fun when the guys get spotted by their friends.

Below are the top two picks of both Michael and his momma. The left black and white will grace the cover of his album and the middle will hang on their wall soon (it just arrived from the lab!). I think they picked perfectly for both.
