I met Rylee at our model Haley’s BFF session and I’m so glad I did because working with her and her lovely momma to create her senior portraits was an absolute blast. Rylee is so fun and didn’t take a single bad image. We explored downtown a bit for a bit of an urban look but also worked in some time in the studio (Cards fan ya’ll WHOOPWHOOP) as well as at Scovill Gardens for some beautiful nature looks. I’m excited to not only share all her favorite images but also her full album design which was a mix of modern and classic feminine style.

| Madelaine | Class of 2019 Senior Model | Decatur IL |

I’m a day behind on our blog post this week (which usually comes out Tuesdays) but for good reason. Yesterday, my husband and I spent a little over two hours (had NO idea it would take quite that long, hence not all my planned work getting done in the office) at our studio site walking through every room to outline our electrical plans. Those of you who have built things in the past will know what we learned that you essentially get to choose where every switch, bulb and outlet goes and we have just a couple tricky areas including a hand designed huge lighting piece that I’ve dreamed up and need the help of my electrician, contractor and local woodworker to pull off! If you haven’t been following along on our build check out my IG featured stories and you can see everything from day one when we purchased the land last fall!

So as we prep for a super exciting change in the SJP world I am also finishing up things for our amazing class of 2019 senior models including Madelaine. This girl was seriously a joy to work with! She didn’t have a single bad angle and braved everything from FREEZING cold shoots in Indianapolis to HOT summer sessions at the Decatur Celebration.

We had her full senior session at Allerton which is always a beautiful location to work at. One thing I try to do with a location that a number of seniors request is to try to use the location differently each year for each senior. There’s so many beautiful areas to explore there that there’s no reason for your images to look just like anyone else’s even if that means having you climb into some shrubs for something fun under the trees.

The last area we stopped at on the way out of Allerton was a little side road I had wanted to stop and shoot at for years but just hadn’t made it happen. I knew going in to her session we were going to do it that day and it did not disappoint.

Today I have SO many images to share with you from Katie’s senior sessions. She was such a pleasure to have on our model team and I had so much fun on sessions with her and her mom.

Check out a bit of a throwback to WARMER weather when it was completely comfortable to hop in the water for some fun looks.

Katie was able to make it to a number of our senior model pop up sessions to do some images in the rain, in the beautiful fall leaves, and even underwater!

| Class of 2019 Senior Model | Best Friend Sessions | Decatur IL Photographer |

I’ve been having so much fun this year with our senior model team. We have a fabulous group of girls and one of my absolute favorite parts of our model perks is their BFF session. We invite them to share a portion of their senior portrait experience with the friends that are important in their lives right now. We all know that adulthood is right around the corner for these guys and with that comes school and jobs that could be right next door or across the country/world and I always say one of the hardest parts of adulthood that no one talks about is no longer living a block from your best friend.

Of course, some of these relationships will last a lifetime (my bff has been in my life since first grade – the elementary pictures we have of eachother are the BEST) and others will fade or fray. But whether these people are destined to be in your lives for a year or a decade or a hundred years, they are an important part of this chapter now and we want to give them their time to shine with you!

And a little perk of joining our model program early (this is for you class of 2021 as we’ll open up for you just next month) is that we’ll feature your bffs your senior year AND your junior year if you’d like!

Check out Will’s senior session! We’re now in the odd part of my year (ok really this is all year long) where I’m rounding out the last few orders for the past class of 2018 as they head off to college, in full on shooting mode for the current senior class of 2019 AND fielding model applications as they come in for the class of 2020… which basically just means I CONSTANTLY write the wrong year on all my checks, and school/doctor forms for the girls. I swear these people must think I’m nuts making out my checks for 8/18/20 (talk about post-dating, ya cash that thing in a couple YEARS!).

About half our senior guys each year choose our Simple senior session and one of my favorite things to show from those shorter 45 minute, single location sessions is how much we can create in that amount of time! I always work hard to select a location that will give us a lot of variety in a small area and encourage the senior to bring 3 different outfits so we can again get variety in the look of the images. But don’t worry if you (or your son) aren’t looking to spend 4 hours or multiple days on sessions.
