Guess what?!?! My beautiful cousin got MARRIED! I had the honor of photographing these two tie the knot last year and now that all their guests got to enjoy their guestbook I get to share/show it off to you here (and you’ll get to see their wedding images soon too).

I’ve said it before (and I’ll likely say it again) but I LOVE our guestbook albums for wedding days. We designed one for our big day and just this past week I got it out to show a client and had fun flipping back through it to see not only our images but all the sweet notes left by our friends and family on those pages too. This is a product that lets you share and enjoy your engagement images for years and to remember not only your sweet relationship but also all those who shared in your wedding day.

| Kaylee + Jake | Decatur IL Fall Engagement Photos |

I cannot tell you how excited I am for this lovely couples wedding day this fall. I’ve had so much fun working with them so far and everytime they’re in it’s nothing but laughs. This week Kaylee’s momma popped by to pick up their guestbook and we chatted for at least 30 minutes and that was just for pickup day so I know their wedding day is going to be amazing.

We wanted to work in some fun personal pieces into their session so that lovely quilt their sitting on was Kaylee’s grandmothers and we added in coffee cups from black iron as that’s where these two had their first date. I love telling the story of couple’s beginnings during their sessions and adding throwbacks to their family history is even better.

The beauty of downtown Decatur’s Christmas lights helped us round out this session. They love the holiday season so it was a great chance to work in that magical time of year for them to enjoy all year long!

Friends and family you’ll get to see even more of Jake & Kaylee’s images at their wedding when you get to join in their legacy by signing their guestbook which is filled with even more sweetness from their engagement session.

| Brittany + Woody | Decatur IL Engagement Session |

I get to show off this lovely couple today. Brittany and Woody were a blast to photograph and not only did I get to spend the afternoon with them but they brought along the family to enjoy the occasion with us too.

A fun tweak to their session was that they changed their wedding date after we’d photographed with these signs soooo I flexed my photoshop muscle and changed 9.22.18 to 6.23.18. Unfortunately, that date change also means I won’t be spending their wedding day with them but it was so fun to get to know them a bit on session.

| Ashley + Nathan | SURPRISE We’re Married! |

I’m so excited today to share a little secret I’ve been holding onto! These two Decatur love birds are not only engaged but as of this past weekend they are MARRIED! While it will be just a bit before all their wedding images are ready to share with you (check our facebook/instagram for a sneak peek).

These two planned an intimate ceremony in Chicago (on a boat!) and a couple months ago contacted me about creating some engagement images to celebrate this milestone. I’ve known and worked with Ashley through my work with the Avon Theater creating their annual staff portraits and I was thrilled when she called me to share the news and invite me to create their portraits. And you all know I was even more excited knowing Huck would be on session (I love people, but DOGS… well that’s just next level).

| Alyssa + Corey | Engaged! |

I’m so excited to show off Alyssa and Corey’s engagement session today! This week’s blog post is a bit late due to us taking a little family vacation time for the fourth but it’s worth the wait because these two are just adorable and so sweet. I was lucky enough to meet Alyssa a year or so ago and was thrilled when she called me to tell me she was engaged and to setup a time to bring Corey by to chat about having me as a part of her wedding day.

Choosing a wedding photographer can be overwhelming (just like choosing every other piece of your wedding day!) because it’s such a big event and your photographer is not only there with you all day (like right there, so you better like them) but they are also creating the images you have left from the day once everything else is over. So though Alyssa had worked with me before I encouraged her to explore the others she’d heard about too just to make sure I was the perfect fit for their day and we were both SO excited when she came up to my booth at the Decatur Bridal Expo to tell me to pull out the contract they were ready! Of course, I’m thrilled to be a part of their day and honored that, after doing some looking, they chose me and SJP. Now it’s game-on to make their wedding day and images as perfect as possible.

I was really excited when she told me they wanted to personalize their engagement session a bit by bringing along Corey’s stunning el camino and to add a little of their personality with a campfire feel (and luckily our fire pit fit in my car!).
