It’s beautiful family portrait day here on the blog. I cannot tell you how much I LOVE to watch your families grow. I first worked with these guys for Jaycee’s senior portraits and now she’s all grown up with the most adorable little baby of her own that look just like her! Having everyone together for big family sessions like this means we also get to take some time to create images of all the relationships within the family too. Everyone get’s their own little bit of time in the spotlight as well as showcasing the whole gang.

And oooo how I love siblings portraits. I’m an only child so I didn’t have any of this growing up but I swear there seems to be no cooler relationship than that between siblings. They may be the first in line to tease you, steal the last piece of pizza from you or annoy you but they’ll also be the first in line to stand up for you and have your back.

I’m excited to share with you our latest session with the Brackett family. I’ve had the pleasure to work with Michelle and her lovely family a few times over the years and it’s always so much fun. We had beautiful fall colors at Fairview for our fall Limited Edition sessions and everyone looked adorable!

Today we have an awesome little guy to share with you on the blog today, I know him since he was the smallest baby and he has to use this small car seat from Babyzoom.net. I’ve loved watching him grow up over the last 2 years and he’s now definitely graduated out of our ‘baby’ program into a smart, fun and active little boy!

Many don’t know we have a full TWO year ‘baby grows’ program that includes a full newborn session, and 4 additional mini children’s sessions we suggest using for 4, 8, 12 and 24 months. This lets us follow your little one as they enter the world, discover their tiny hands/feet, sit up and start to explore the world around them, take their first tentative steps into that world and finally discover and share their unique personalities.

And don’t forget the family…. Your family changes over those two years as much as your little one does. For the Star family that means they just leveled up and welcomed a beautiful baby girl to their family but we were so happy to give Samuel his moment in the spotlight before his promotion to big brother.

And yes, you read that blog title right, this lovely family lives in Jefferson City, MO (my hometown) and though I don’t take a LOT of sessions back home each year I have a few opportunities to return and photograph on my old stomping grounds.

I’ve so loved working with this family over the past year or so. We started with Evan’s senior portraits and then wanted to create some family portraits for Dave and Linda before they are empty nesters. And since we’d created a wall collage with Evan’s portraits we took a bit of time at their family session to take a variety of images of his sister Sara so we could give her a wall collage of her own too!

We ended up designing a complete collage combining the below image as their feature ‘anchor’ piece in the center with a collage of the kids on each side. My favorite part about creating wall art with the ‘kids’ at this age is that these can hang for YEARS to come without the need to update as they are the last portraits of the family together before the kids branch out on their own and start their own lives/families. They’ll be your kids forever and this is our chance to freeze this moment with them to enjoy in your home even when they aren’t there any longer!

| Conn Family | Fall Family Portraits Decatur IL |

I now get to show off one of my favorite families, the Conn Family! You may remember Liz & Justin’s beautiful wedding day at the Millikin Homestead and their first family portraits here last year.

These poor guys froze their booties off last year with a crazy windy cold day so this year was a treat with mild weather and a beautiful day for their session! We even had some lovely fall colors even in mid-November for our Limited Edition sessions.

I’m a big fan of their card design and hope it filled their friends/family mailboxes with some smiles this year.
