Today I get to share the class of 2019 soon-to-be graduates of Warrensburg-Latham High School. I get to work with each of these students once a year to create their senior yearbook portrait. It’s really a fun day for me to work with them to get a portrait they love to commemorate their final year of high school.

I can’t tell you how much I love and appreciate it when clients choose me not just for one portrait session but for their sessions continuously over the years. I was lucky enough to photograph Loren’s senior portraits, then her momma’s wedding day and now some updated family portraits for them over the years (including their fur babies!!!).
This year she trusted me enough to come out and brave a very rainy morning and do something a little different than we’ve done in the past. We chose a location that would give us a nice backdrop or two out of the rain and then at the end decided to go ahead and dive right out into the rain to embrace the not so wonderful weather. I’m so glad these guys were on board with something a little different and love what we were able to create.

Check out Will’s senior session! We’re now in the odd part of my year (ok really this is all year long) where I’m rounding out the last few orders for the past class of 2018 as they head off to college, in full on shooting mode for the current senior class of 2019 AND fielding model applications as they come in for the class of 2020… which basically just means I CONSTANTLY write the wrong year on all my checks, and school/doctor forms for the girls. I swear these people must think I’m nuts making out my checks for 8/18/20 (talk about post-dating, ya cash that thing in a couple YEARS!).
About half our senior guys each year choose our Simple senior session and one of my favorite things to show from those shorter 45 minute, single location sessions is how much we can create in that amount of time! I always work hard to select a location that will give us a lot of variety in a small area and encourage the senior to bring 3 different outfits so we can again get variety in the look of the images. But don’t worry if you (or your son) aren’t looking to spend 4 hours or multiple days on sessions. We absolutely do not have to do that to create a wide variety of images to showcase their personality, style and highlight their senior year. 
We are still booking fall/winter/spring sessions for the class of 2019 AND taking model applications for the class of 2020 model team.
It’s Michael’s day on the blog today! We had such a great mix at his session of the classic and the new/edgy. We kicked things off here in the studio since we had to create his yearbook headshot anyways we decided to do a few other more formal images here before we headed out.
One fun thing on Michael’s session was being spotted by a few of his friends who threw out some cat calls as we were shooting. Our girls kick up a ruckus and even brides and grooms elicit passing honks and hollers of congrats but it’s kind of the most fun when the guys get spotted by their friends.
Below are the top two picks of both Michael and his momma. The left black and white will grace the cover of his album and the middle will hang on their wall soon (it just arrived from the lab!). I think they picked perfectly for both.

I’m excited today to share a throwback to this beautiful class of 2017 Mt. Zion high school senior, McKaela! Her studio/Allerton combo was one of my favorites. I simply love creating sports images in studio (as I talked about in Jarius’ post recently). Not only do I love the way your uniform colors will pop on our rich black background but I often pair this with our mirrored floor to create a unique reflection look like the one below. McKaela did that pose so well (you have to really become ONE with that floor to get close enough for a good reflection!).
Her album design became one of my absolute favorites too. While I don’t use a TON of text in our designs sometimes just a bit can really elevate a design and I had fun with a new style of text in hers to give more of a ticker tape feel that was super fun.
As we round out the last 90 degree days (it is September right?!?!) here’s a peek back at the spring colors/flowers that will be here before we know it.
